XRP to USDT (ERC20): Swap XRP for Tether on Ethereum, No KYC

Pick the version your next destination accepts. ERC-20 is what most Ethereum apps and many services ask for; the others are separate tokens on separate chains, each with its own pair. Because BEP-20 and ERC-20 addresses look exactly the same, a 0x address alone does not tell you the network, so check which one the receiving service expects. The deposit for this swap is an XRP Ledger address starting with r. If the deposit details also list a Destination Tag, type that number into the tag field of Xaman or Ledger Live before you sign; it ties the payment to your swap. Without it, depending on the deposit account, the payment can be rejected by the ledger or arrive unmatched, and you would then need to write to support with the transaction hash.

Plan the amount around what you can actually spend. Part of any XRP balance is the reserve, which grows with each trust line and is never spendable, so a wallet showing 1,000 XRP cannot send all 1,000. Xaman shows the spendable figure; use that, or less, in the swap box.

The ledger confirms the payment within seconds. After that the ERC-20 transfer needs about 2 to 5 minutes on Ethereum, and most swaps finish within minutes of the deposit confirming.

USDT ERC20 is a token contract on Ethereum, so it arrives at an ordinary 0x address from MetaMask, Rabby or a Ledger: 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters. If your wallet does not list the balance, add Tether USDT from its token list, or look the address up on Etherscan, which shows the token transfer under the address.

Receiving the USDT costs you nothing, but moving it later does. Every ERC-20 transfer needs ETH for gas, and the USDT itself cannot pay that fee. Keep a small ETH balance at that address for when you want to send, topped up for example with a separate XRP to ETH swap.

An XRP r-address cannot hold ERC-20 tokens, so never paste one into the USDT field. Likewise, do not use an address from a wallet that only supports Tron or the XRP Ledger.

XRP floats freely against the dollar; USDT is designed to track it. Swapping XRP to USDT fixes the dollar value of your XRP at the rate in the box, which means you give up any later rise as well as any fall. The rate comes from aggregated liquidity from leading crypto markets and floats until your XRP deposit confirms.

USDT is also issued by a single company, Tether, and its token contract lets Tether freeze the balance held at a given address. That is a property of the token on every network it runs on, not of the swap. Most holders never run into it, but it is worth knowing before you keep savings in USDT for a long time. This pair refunds in XRP. If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the sender address you entered, so fill that field with the r-address of the Xaman or Ledger account you are paying from. Paying directly from an exchange withdrawal is a poor fit, because the payment then comes from the exchange's account, not from yours, and a refund to it might never reach your balance.

Open the status page with your swap ID to see the deposit, the conversion and the USDT payout. You can check the XRP payment on XRPSCAN and the token transfer on Etherscan. Most do it to step out of XRP's price swings without leaving crypto. Others need dollars on Ethereum to pay a service, add to a DeFi position, or settle with someone who accepts ERC-20 USDT. Done as a swap, it needs no exchange account: the XRP comes from your wallet and the Tether goes to your wallet.

The way back is just as short. When you want XRP again, USDT ERC20 to XRP takes the token in and pays XRP to your r-address, though the sending wallet then needs a little ETH for the gas of the token transfer. If the XRP goes to an exchange on that pair, its Destination Tag is the one detail you must not forget.
