USDT ERC20 to XMR: Swap Tether on Ethereum to Monero, No KYC
To swap USDT to XMR, enter the amount, paste your Monero address (95 characters, starting with 4 or 8) and the Ethereum 0x address you send from, then send the USDT on the Ethereum network to the one-time deposit address, with a little ETH in that wallet for gas. There is no account or ID check, and the XMR is sent to your wallet after the USDT deposit confirms on Ethereum, which takes about 2 to 5 minutes.

How do I exchange USDT to XMR?
Pick USDT and XMR
Pick USDT in “You send” and XMR in “You get”, then enter the amount. The box shows how much XMR you get after all fees, and the minimum for this pair.
Paste your Monero address
Paste the Monero address that should receive the XMR: it is 95 characters and starts with 4 (standard) or 8 (subaddress). Wallets that work: Feather, Cake Wallet or Monero GUI. Then enter the Ethereum address you send USDT from; a refund, if ever needed, goes there.
Send USDT on Ethereum
Send exactly the amount shown from your own Ethereum wallet to the one-time deposit address, on the Ethereum network (as an). Keep a little ETH in that wallet for the network fee.
Receive XMR
Your XMR is paid out once your USDT deposit confirms, and Monero then confirms it in about 20 minutes (10 confirmations). Most swaps finish within minutes. The exact time depends on how fast each network confirms your deposit. Follow each step on the status page with your swap ID.
Sending USDT on Ethereum: gas is paid in ETH
A USDT ERC20 transfer is a call to the Tether token contract on Ethereum, and Ethereum charges gas for it in ETH. The USDT itself cannot pay the fee. If your wallet holds 500 USDT and zero ETH, MetaMask or Rabby will refuse to send it. Top up a small amount of ETH first, in the same address that holds the USDT.
Gas depends on how busy Ethereum is, not on how many dollars you move. A transfer of 50 USDT costs about the same as one of 50,000. Your wallet shows the estimate before you sign, and it is paid on top of the USDT you send, so the deposit still matches the quote.
A plain token transfer needs no approval step. If a wallet or site asks you to approve a spending allowance for this swap, stop: you only need to send USDT to the deposit address, nothing more. The deposit confirms in about 2 to 5 minutes, and you can follow it on Etherscan with the transaction hash.
The 0x trap: one address format, several networks
| Your USDT is on | Sending address | Gas coin | Pair to use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum (ERC20) | 0x... | ETH | This page |
| Tron (TRC20) | T..., 34 characters | TRX or energy | USDT TRC20 to XMR |
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) | 0x..., looks identical | BNB | USDT BEP20 to XMR |
| Solana | 32 to 44 characters, no 0x | SOL | USDT SOL to XMR |
The risky row is BNB Smart Chain. Its addresses look exactly like Ethereum ones, and so do those of Polygon, Arbitrum and other EVM chains. A wallet will happily send BEP20 USDT to the Ethereum deposit address, and it will not show up as an ERC20 deposit. Before you sign, check that the wallet's network selector says Ethereum and that the token is USDT on Ethereum. If it says anything else, use the matching pair from the table.
Where the XMR goes: your Monero address
The payout needs a Monero address of 95 characters. Primary addresses begin with 4 and subaddresses with 8; both receive into the same wallet. Feather, Cake Wallet and Monero GUI can all create a new subaddress in a couple of clicks, and a separate one per swap keeps your incoming payments apart.
Do not paste an Ethereum address here by mistake. Many people keep USDT and XMR in different apps and copy from the wrong one. After pasting, compare the first and last characters of the Monero address with your wallet.
If you are setting up a Monero wallet for the first time, write the seed words down on paper before you share any address. Without the seed, a lost phone or a broken laptop means lost XMR. The best Monero wallets compares the options for phone and desktop.
When the XMR shows up in your wallet
Once the USDT deposit has confirmed on Ethereum, most swaps finish within minutes. The XMR then appears in your wallet as pending. Monero locks every incoming output for 10 blocks, roughly 20 minutes, so you can see the balance before you can spend it. This is a network rule that applies to all Monero transfers.
If nothing appears, check that the wallet is fully synced. Cake Wallet on a remote node catches up quickly, while Monero GUI running its own node takes much longer the first time. A wallet restored from its seed must have a restore height from before the swap, or it will not scan the block that contains your payout.
Unlike the Ethereum side, the Monero payout cannot be looked up on a public explorer by address. Your wallet, and the status page with your swap ID, are where you confirm that it arrived.
Refunds go to your Ethereum sender address
The form asks for the 0x address you send the USDT from, and that is also the refund address. If a swap cannot be completed, the USDT is refunded to the sender address you entered.
So send from a wallet you control, such as MetaMask, Rabby or a Ledger. A withdrawal from an exchange comes from the exchange's own hot wallet, not from an address in your name. A refund sent there may not be matched to your account. If your USDT is on an exchange, withdraw it to your own Ethereum wallet first, then do the swap from there.
Every swap has an ID and a status page. Your deposit is public, so you can paste the transaction hash into Etherscan and see when it confirmed. If the status page has not moved long after Etherscan shows the deposit as confirmed, email support@ghostswap.io with the swap ID and the Ethereum transaction hash, and do not send the USDT again.
Why people move USDT into Monero
USDT on Ethereum is fully transparent. Anyone with your 0x address can open Etherscan and read every incoming payment, every outgoing one and the current balance. The token also has an issuer: Tether can freeze USDT held at any Ethereum address, which is a feature of the token on every chain it runs on.
Monero works differently. Each transfer hides the sender, the receiver and the amount, and there is no issuer that can block a balance. Swapping USDT to XMR moves a public, issuer-controlled balance into a private coin that you hold yourself. Some people do it to pay a merchant that takes Monero, others to stop their spending being readable from one address.
The trade-off is price risk. USDT tracks the dollar, and XMR does not, so the value of what you hold will move after the swap. Is Monero traceable? explains what Monero hides and what it cannot. To go back to a stablecoin later, use XMR to USDT ERC20.
Common mistakes with USDT to XMR
- Sending BEP20 USDT from BNB Smart Chain to the Ethereum deposit address because both addresses start with 0x.
- Trying to send USDT from a wallet with no ETH, so the transaction cannot pay for gas.
- Withdrawing straight from an exchange, so the sender address is not yours and a refund cannot reach you.
- Signing a token approval when all the swap needs is a plain USDT transfer to the deposit address.
- Checking a block explorer for the XMR payout instead of letting your Monero wallet finish syncing.
