Native XRP, not the BSC token called XRP
Search for USDT BSC to XRP and you will find two different things. One is a BEP-20 token on BNB Smart Chain that tracks the XRP price and lives at a 0x address. The other is real XRP on the XRP Ledger, held at an address that starts with r. This page pays the second one.
That matters for the payout field. A 0x address from MetaMask or Trust Wallet will not work here, even though your Tether came from one. You need an XRP Ledger wallet such as Xaman or the XRP app on a Ledger, and its r address.
If what you actually want is the BSC token, it is listed as a separate coin in the exchange box. For anything that will later be sent to an XRP Ledger wallet, a payment app or an exchange that lists XRP on its own network, native XRP is the one to choose.
Sending Tether on BNB Smart Chain
Your deposit is a normal BEP-20 transfer. The gas is paid in BNB from the same wallet, so a Trust Wallet, MetaMask or Rabby account holding only USDT cannot send it. Add a small BNB balance before you start.
Make sure the wallet is on BNB Smart Chain when you confirm. MetaMask shows the same 0x address on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, and Tether exists on both. Only the BEP-20 version belongs in this deposit.
Put that same 0x address in the sender field. If the swap cannot go through, that is where the USDT returns, so it should be a wallet you control rather than an exchange withdrawal address. BNB Smart Chain confirms in under a minute, and the transfer can be found on BscScan by its hash. The rate is drawn from aggregated liquidity from leading crypto markets and floats until that confirmation.
Your r address, the reserve and the Destination Tag
XRP Ledger addresses start with r and are 25 to 35 characters long. Copy yours from the Receive screen in Xaman or Ledger Live and paste it whole.
A new address is not yet an account. It becomes active when its first payment covers the base reserve, which has been 1 XRP since December 2024. A swap payout normally covers that, but the reserve stays locked for as long as the account exists. Swap a little more than you plan to spend, so the locked part does not leave you short.
The Destination Tag field is for exchange accounts only. If the XRP is going to an exchange or custodial service that gave you a tag, copy it exactly. If the r address is your own Xaman or Ledger wallet, leave the field empty. XRP payments settle in a few seconds, and you can see yours on XRPSCAN.

Why people convert USDT on BSC into XRP
Some want XRP for what it was built for: payments that settle in seconds with a very small network fee paid in XRP. Others hold Tether on BNB Smart Chain from earlier trading and want exposure to XRP itself, in a wallet they control, without opening an exchange account.
Be clear about the trade. Once the swap runs, your balance is no longer worth a fixed number of dollars. And a payout to an exchange that lists only the BSC token, not native XRP, is a mismatch to catch before you send.
Erros comuns
- Pasting a 0x address in the XRP field because the Tether came from one; this pair pays native XRP to an r address.
