From Solana to Stellar: XLM reserves and memos explained

SOL to XLM moves funds from Solana into Stellar Lumens, the native coin of a network built for low-cost payments, remittances and stablecoin transfers. Solana users make this swap to fund a Lobstr or Freighter wallet, to cover the reserve needed to hold USDC and other assets on Stellar, or to send XLM on to an exchange. The XLM is paid to the G address you enter, with no account.

The SOL deposit confirms in under a minute and Stellar settles the payout within seconds. A Stellar account only exists once it holds the minimum balance, so the first payout to a new address creates the account and part of it stays locked as reserve. Each trustline you add later, for example to hold USDC on Stellar, raises that reserve a little.

Tips for this swap

  • Use a 56-character G address from Lobstr, Freighter or a Ledger. Muxed addresses starting with M (69 characters, used by some exchanges) are not accepted; ask the exchange for its G address and memo instead.
  • Sending the XLM to an exchange? Copy its memo into the Memo ID field. A personal wallet needs no memo.
  • Send native SOL from Phantom, Solflare or Trust Wallet, leave a little SOL for the network fee, and enter that address as the refund address.

Can I buy XLM with SOL without KYC?

Yes. No account, email or ID is needed for a standard swap. Paste your Stellar address, add a Memo ID only for an exchange account, check the floating rate and send the SOL.

Why can I not spend all the XLM I received?

Stellar locks a minimum balance in every account: two base reserves, plus one more base reserve for each trustline, offer or other entry the account holds. The base reserve is a small XLM amount set by the network, and everything above the minimum is free to spend.

SOL to XLM: questions and answers

How long does it take to swap SOL to XLM on GhostSwap?
Most SOL to XLM swaps are paid out within 5–15 minutes: the SOL deposit needs under a minute to confirm on Solana, then the XLM is sent to your wallet, and Stellar confirms the payout in a few seconds.
How much is 1 SOL in XLM?
At 7 Oct 2026, 19:22 UTC, 1 SOL swapped to about 572.9315 XLM on GhostSwap, after the service fee. The minimum for this pair is about 0.26 SOL. The Solana network fee for sending the SOL is paid separately, in SOL. The rate floats with the market until your SOL deposit confirms.
Can I send SOL straight to my XLM address?
No. SOL moves on Solana and XLM on Stellar, so SOL can only be sent to a Solana address. To swap, send the SOL to the one-time deposit address GhostSwap shows, and the XLM is paid to the Stellar address you enter, with no bridge or wrapped token.
What wallet and address do I need to receive XLM?
Use a Stellar address from a wallet you control, such as Lobstr or Freighter. The address starts with G and is 56 characters long. A Memo is only needed if the XLM goes to an exchange or custodial account that gave you one; a personal wallet does not need one. GhostSwap never holds your funds: the XLM is sent straight to the address you enter.
What happens if my SOL to XLM exchange fails?
If a swap cannot be completed, the SOL is refunded to the Solana address you entered as the sender address.
