How to Exchange Solana to NEAR Protocol
Select SOL and NEAR
Pick SOL in “You send” and NEAR in “You get”, then enter the amount. The box shows how much NEAR you get and the minimum SOL for this pair.
Enter NEAR Protocol Address
Paste the NEAR address that should receive the NEAR (it is a named account such as alice.near or 64 hexadecimal characters). Then enter the Solana address you send SOL from; a refund, if ever needed, goes there.
Send Solana
Send exactly the amount shown from your own Solana wallet to the one-time deposit address.
Receive NEAR Protocol
Your NEAR is paid out once your SOL deposit confirms, and NEAR then confirms it in a few seconds. Most swaps finish within minutes. The exact time depends on how fast each network confirms your deposit. Follow each step on the status page with your swap ID.
A swap, not a bridge
Many people search for a SOL to NEAR bridge. A bridge locks a coin on one chain and issues a wrapped stand-in on the other, so you end up holding an IOU that depends on the bridge contract. This page works differently.
You send native SOL on Solana. GhostSwap swaps it at the market rate and sends native NEAR on NEAR mainnet to your account. There is no lock contract, no wrapped SOL on NEAR and nothing to redeem later. The NEAR you receive is the same coin you would get from any NEAR wallet.
Both chains are fast. Solana confirms the deposit in under a minute and NEAR settles the payout in a few seconds, so the swap does not leave you waiting on either network. You can check the result on NearBlocks by searching for your account.
At no point does the swap ask you to register or show an ID.
Named accounts and 64-character accounts
NEAR addresses come in two shapes, and both work for the payout.
A named account reads like alice.near. It is easy to check by eye, but it must already exist on NEAR mainnet before the swap. A name you have not created yet cannot receive anything. A name ending in .testnet belongs to the test network and cannot receive real NEAR either.
An implicit account is 64 hexadecimal characters. Your wallet derives it from its key, and it comes into existence the moment the first NEAR arrives, so a brand-new wallet can use it straight away. It is long, so paste it and compare the first and last characters.
Meteor, HOT Wallet and MyNearWallet all show one or both forms on their receive screens. Whichever you paste, the Solana address you copied for the sender field must not end up here by mistake: it has neither a .near ending nor 64 hex characters.
Sending SOL from your wallet
This pair takes native SOL. In Phantom or Solflare, choose the SOL line when you send, not a token such as USDC. Holders of USD Coin on Solana have their own pair, USDC SOL to NEAR.
Leave a little SOL behind after the send. Solana charges a small fee in SOL for every transfer, and a wallet at zero cannot pay it.
Enter the address you are sending from in the sender field. It matters twice: the deposit has to come from it, and any refund goes back to it. An exchange account is a bad choice for both, because its withdrawals leave from a shared wallet.
After you send, the signature appears on Solscan within moments, and the deposit is confirmed in under a minute. From there the rate is set and the swap moves on.
SOL and NEAR compared
| SOL (you send) | NEAR (you receive) | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Solana | NEAR mainnet |
| Address | Base58 string | Name like alice.near, or 64 hex characters |
| Confirms in | Under a minute | A few seconds |
| Fee coin | SOL | NEAR |
| Wallets | Phantom, Solflare, Ledger | Meteor, HOT Wallet, MyNearWallet |
| Explorer | Solscan | NearBlocks |
Each side pays fees in its own coin, so once the NEAR lands you can move it without topping up anything else. One NEAR detail to know: an account keeps a small part of its balance reserved to pay for the data it stores on chain. Your wallet may show slightly less as available than the total, and that is normal, not a short payout. The address row is where most mistakes happen, because the two formats share nothing.
What people do with the NEAR
The common reasons for this direction are practical. Some holders want to use apps that run on NEAR, which need NEAR in the account for fees. Others want to stake: NEAR wallets let you delegate NEAR to a validator and earn rewards while the coins stay in your account.
If you plan to stake, keep some NEAR outside the stake. Unstaking takes time on NEAR, and a fully staked account has nothing liquid to cover fees in the meantime.
For a deeper look at the network itself, the NEAR price outlook covers what drives the coin. Nothing on this page predicts where it goes.
If you later want SOL back, the reverse pair NEAR to SOL works the same way in the other direction.
Rate, timing and refunds
The exchange box shows the NEAR you get for the SOL you enter, after fees, based on aggregated liquidity from leading crypto markets. For comparison, the page also prints the pre-fee market rate. Rates float until your SOL deposit confirms, and the box lists the minimum and maximum for this pair.
Once the deposit confirms, most swaps finish within minutes, and NEAR settles the payout in a few seconds.
If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the sender address you entered, as SOL. Progress for the order is listed step by step on its swap ID page. If Solscan shows your SOL finalized and the page has not changed for a long time, email support@ghostswap.io with the swap ID and the Solana signature, and do not send a second deposit.
Common mistakes
- Entering a .near name that has not been created yet on NEAR mainnet.
- Using a .testnet account, which cannot receive real NEAR.
- Sending USDC or another Solana token instead of native SOL.
- Leaving no SOL in the wallet for the Solana transfer fee.
- Reading the storage reserve on a NEAR account as a missing part of the payout.
