Is GhostSwap legit? The facts, the complaints, and how to check for yourself
Short answer: GhostSwap (ghostswap.io) is a non-custodial instant crypto exchange, running since October 2024. You don't open an account. You paste the address that should receive your coins and send a deposit from your own wallet; the swapped coins are paid straight to that address. Every swap has a public status page, and the deposit and the payout are ordinary blockchain transactions you can check yourself. Like every instant exchange, GhostSwap has a small number of swaps that are delayed or held. This page explains why, how those cases end, and what to do.

How to check GhostSwap yourself (no trust needed)
- Before sending: check that the address bar says ghostswap.io. Read the quote: it shows what you'll receive after fees.
- Your status page:
ghostswap.io/txs/?id=YOUR_SWAP_IDshows when your deposit is seen, its confirmations, and each step of the swap. - Your deposit: paste the transaction hash into a block explorer for the coin you sent.
- Your payout: the status page shows the outgoing transaction. Check it in an explorer, or in your own wallet for Monero.
- Start small: for a first swap, send a small test amount.
What people complain about, and what's behind it
You'll find negative reviews and forum threads about GhostSwap. Most are about one of three things:
- "My swap is taking forever." Nearly always, the deposit is still confirming (about 20 to 60 minutes for Bitcoin), a memo or tag was missing, or the coins were sent on the wrong network. Each of these is solvable with the swap ID and the transaction hash. See Swap delayed or on hold?
- "My funds are frozen." Very occasionally, a deposit is paused for review before the swap runs. It isn't part of normal swapping, and there's no account to verify. When it happens, support tells you what's needed. The case ends with the swap completing, or with the deposit returned to an address you control whenever the review allows a return. GhostSwap never holds user funds, so a held deposit is not money GhostSwap has kept.
- "Support was slow." In some cases, that's fair criticism. Every held or delayed swap gets a case number, and support keeps you updated until it's closed.
Privacy, in plain words
- We never ask for your name, email, phone number or identity documents to start a swap.
- Our own analytics keep only a hashed (scrambled) version of your IP address, never the plain one.
- Swaps are carried out by a third-party liquidity source, which receives the details needed to complete them.
- For the strongest network privacy, use our Tor mirror. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
