Zcash to XRP: deposit from a t-address, receive to an r-address
ZEC to XRP takes Zcash and pays XRP on the XRP Ledger, a payments network whose ledgers close every few seconds. People use it to fund an exchange account, pay someone in XRP or rebalance out of ZEC. No account is needed; the XRP is paid to the r-address you give.
Zcash has transparent addresses (t1 or t3) and shielded ones (Sapling addresses starting with zs and unified addresses starting with u1). Send the deposit from a transparent address. If your ZEC is shielded, first move the amount to a t-address in a wallet that can spend from it, and wait for that transfer to confirm. Zcash adds a block about every 75 seconds and the deposit usually needs 10 to 20 minutes, so most swaps finish in 20 to 60 minutes; the XRP payout then settles within seconds.
Tips for this swap
- Your XRP address starts with r; copy it from Xaman or a Ledger. Fill in the Destination Tag field only for an exchange address, using the tag that exchange gave you.
- A new XRP address is activated by its first payment, which must cover the base reserve; that reserve then stays locked. Normal swap amounts are well above it.
- Send the ZEC from a transparent t1 address and enter it as the sender address, so a refund can come back to you. Zkool lets you choose the transparent pool when sending; Zodl (formerly Zashi) spends only shielded ZEC, so it cannot send from a t-address.
Can I swap ZEC to XRP without KYC?
Yes. Standard swaps have no sign-up and ask for no email or ID. Enter your XRP address, check the floating rate shown before you send, and transfer the ZEC from your transparent address; if the swap cannot complete, the refund goes back to that address.
Is the XRP I receive private like shielded ZEC?
No. XRP Ledger payments are public: anyone can look up an r-address, its balance and its history on an explorer such as XRPSCAN. The ZEC deposit is public too, because it comes from a transparent address. Zcash privacy covers only ZEC that is held and spent in the shielded pool.
Is Zcash legal?
