SHIB to PEPE: Swap Shiba Inu for Pepe on Ethereum, No KYC

Shiba Inu started in 2020 as a dog-themed token; Pepe arrived in 2023 built on the frog meme. Both are ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum, neither has a stable value, and both trade on mood as much as anything else.

People who hold one and want to switch to the other usually face two trades: SHIB into ETH or a stablecoin, then that into PEPE. This pair does it as one swap. You send SHIB and receive PEPE, with one Ethereum transfer on your side.

Keep in mind what the swap does and does not change. You stay fully in meme tokens, so the risk profile is similar before and after; only the token you are exposed to changes. SHIB is not on one chain only. It has its own layer-2, Shibarium, and bridged copies exist on other networks. PEPE too has bridged versions outside Ethereum, including on BNB Smart Chain. Those copies can share a 0x address with your Ethereum balance, which is exactly why they cause mistakes.

This pair takes SHIB on Ethereum mainnet and pays PEPE on Ethereum mainnet. Before you confirm the transfer in MetaMask or Rabby, check that the network reads Ethereum. SHIB sent from Shibarium or another chain does not arrive on Ethereum, so the swap cannot see it.

If you are not sure which version you hold, look the token up on Etherscan through your own address. Ethereum SHIB appears there under your token holdings; a bridged copy elsewhere will not. On Ethereum, the SHIB deposit takes about 2 to 5 minutes to confirm.

Neither SHIB nor PEPE can pay for its own transfer. Every move of either token is an Ethereum transaction, and the gas is always ETH. A wallet full of SHIB and empty of ETH is stuck until you add some.

For the deposit, you make a plain token transfer to the deposit address. There is no contract approval to sign and nothing is left behind as an allowance in your wallet. The PEPE you receive sits at a 0x address, and moving it on later needs ETH again. If you plan to send it elsewhere soon, leave a little extra ETH in the wallet. Receiving PEPE itself costs you nothing in gas.

Both tokens have enormous supplies, so the amounts on each side run to many digits. That is normal for this pair, and it creates one specific risk: rounding.

Wallets often shorten big balances, showing them with a K, M or B suffix or cutting decimals. If you type a SHIB amount from that short form, it may differ from what the box quoted. Copy the figure from the box or use your wallet's full-precision view, and check the whole number before you confirm.

Sending more or less than the amount you entered is one of the most common reasons a swap needs manual attention. The quote is built around the SHIB figure in the box. If you change your mind about the size, change it in the box first so the quote updates, then send that exact SHIB amount from your wallet.

Because both tokens use the same chain, the PEPE arrives at the 0x address you entered, which can be the one you sent SHIB from. Rabby usually shows new tokens on its own. MetaMask may not, so the balance can look empty even though the payout has landed.

To fix that in MetaMask, import the token. Take the contract address from Etherscan's PEPE token page, reached by searching the name there and choosing the entry with the large holder count, not from a link in a chat or a reply. Look-alike tokens named PEPE are common, and some are sent to wallets unasked.

You can always confirm the payout without the wallet. Open your address on Etherscan and check the token transfers tab: the incoming PEPE appears there with its transaction hash. If it is there, the swap is done, whatever the wallet shows.

The rate floats until the SHIB deposit confirms, and the box shows the minimum and maximum for this pair.
