USDT (TRC20) to ATOM: Swap Tether on Tron to Cosmos, No KYC

The awkward part of this pair is on the sending side, not the receiving one. A USDT transfer on Tron is paid for with energy and bandwidth, and if the address has no staked TRX, the wallet burns TRX instead. A T-address holding only Tether cannot send it at all.

So before you start, open TronLink or Trust Wallet and check there is some TRX next to the USDT. If there is none, send a little TRX to that address from elsewhere first. Users who move TRC20 Tether often stake TRX for energy, which makes each transfer cheaper.

Then send the exact USDT amount you typed into the box to the deposit address. Tron confirms in about a minute, and Tronscan lists the transfer under your T-address. From there, most swaps finish within minutes.

Tether exists on several chains, and each version needs its own deposit address. This page only accepts USDT on Tron. If your wallet shows the Tether under Ethereum, use USDT ERC20 to ATOM; if it is on Solana, use USDT SOL на ATOM. Tether sent on the wrong chain does not show up at this address, so check the network label in the wallet, not just the token name.

The ATOM is paid to a Cosmos Hub address that starts with cosmos1. Add Cosmos Hub in Keplr, Trust Wallet or Vultisig and copy the address it gives you. A T-address, a 0x address or an address from another Cosmos chain such as osmo1 will not work here.

Below the address sits an optional Memo. Leave it empty for your own wallet. Fill it only when the ATOM is going to an exchange account and that exchange gave you a Memo together with its cosmos1 address; without it, the exchange may not know which account the coins belong to.

People who hold Tether on Tron usually got it as a payment or parked it there between trades. Moving part of it into ATOM is a way to take a position in the Cosmos Hub, and many do it to stake: ATOM delegated to a validator earns network staking rewards and gives a vote on Cosmos Hub proposals.

It is also a simple way into the wider Cosmos world. Once you hold native ATOM, you can send it over IBC to other Cosmos chains from the same wallet.

Keep the trade-off in mind. Tether tracks the US dollar, and ATOM does not; the value of what you receive will move with the market. Some people split a larger amount into several smaller swaps over time rather than converting it all at once. Note too that Tether can freeze USDT at any address, which is a property of the token itself; holding ATOM instead does not carry that issuer control.

This pair has a fixed starting point: you send a set number of USDT. What floats is the ATOM side. The quote comes from aggregated liquidity from leading crypto markets, and the box shows the ATOM amount after fees before you send anything.
