How to check a Monero transaction

Paste a transaction ID (TXID) to see whether it's in the mempool or confirmed, in which block, and how many confirmations it has.

What you can see on an explorer

Whether the transaction exists, its block and confirmations, its fee and size, and its ring members and one-time output addresses. That's enough to tell if a payment was broadcast and mined.

What no explorer can show

The sender, the receiver and the amount. Monero hides all three with ring signatures, stealth addresses and RingCT. To see whether a payment reached you, check your own wallet: it scans every block with your private view key, on your device.

Never paste your private spend key or seed into any website, including an explorer. Nobody needs it to look anything up.

Steps

  1. Copy the transaction ID from the sender's wallet or the exchange's order page.
  2. Paste it in the search box above.
  3. "Unconfirmed, in mempool" means it was broadcast and waits for a block, usually under 2 minutes. "Confirmed" shows the block and the live confirmation count.
  4. To confirm the amount, the receiver opens their wallet, or uses the sender's tx key to prove the payment.

FAQ

Can I look up a Monero address on an explorer?

No. Monero transactions never show the receiving address on the blockchain, so no explorer can list an address's payments or balance. Only the wallet holding the view key can see them.

How do I prove I sent a Monero payment?

In the sending wallet, open the transaction and copy its transaction key (tx key). Give the receiver the transaction ID, the tx key and their address; their wallet, or the CLI command check_tx_key, confirms the amount received.

How long does a Monero transaction take?

It usually enters a block within about 2 minutes. Received funds unlock after 10 blocks, about 20 minutes.

Where do I find my transaction ID?

In your wallet history, open the transaction: the ID (also called hash or TXID) is a 64-character string. When you swap on GhostSwap, the order page shows the payout transaction ID.
