APT to USDC BEP20: Swap Aptos for USDC on BNB Smart Chain

This pair has a trap that most cross-chain swaps do not: both sides use addresses beginning with 0x. They are not interchangeable. An Aptos account address is 0x followed by 64 hexadecimal characters. On BNB Smart Chain the 0x is followed by just 40, exactly as on Ethereum.

The payout field needs the shorter, 40-character address from an EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby. Your Petra or Nightly address is the long one and belongs only in the sender field, where a refund would go. Swapping the two by mistake is the error the box is most likely to catch, but count the length yourself as well.

If you already use MetaMask for Ethereum, the same 0x address also works on BNB Smart Chain, because both are EVM chains and share the key format. You only need to add BNB Smart Chain as a network in the wallet so the USDC shows up once it lands.

APT is the native coin of Aptos, a layer 1 built around the Move language, where it pays fees and is staked with validators. Its price in dollars changes all the time. USDC is a dollar-pegged stablecoin, and on this pair it is paid as a BEP-20 token on BNB Smart Chain.

People choose this direction to park value in a stable unit while staying in crypto, to pay someone who asked for USDC on BSC, or to use an app that lives on BNB Smart Chain. The payout goes straight to your own wallet, and no account or KYC is part of it.

USDC is a centrally issued token. Its issuer can freeze balances at an address, which is a property of the token itself and applies wherever you hold it. If that matters to you, keep it in mind when deciding how long to hold the stablecoin.

BEP-20 tokens pay gas in BNB, the chain's native coin. You do not need BNB to receive the USDC; the payout arrives regardless. You need it for the next step, whenever you send that USDC on to someone else or into an app. A wallet holding only USDC on BNB Smart Chain is stuck until BNB arrives.

The addresses look identical, so the network is what decides where the USDC actually is. Ethereum gas is usually higher than BNB Smart Chain fees, which is one reason people pick the BEP-20 version for smaller transfers. If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the sender address you entered. Here that means APT back to your Aptos account, which is why the sender field takes the full 64-character Aptos address from Petra or Nightly and not an .apt name.

Avoid sending APT straight from an exchange account. The transfer would leave from a shared exchange address, and a refund to it may never be matched to you.
