This pair confuses people for a simple reason: the address you send from and the address you receive at can look identical. Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain both use 0x followed by 40 hex characters, and a MetaMask or Rabby account has the same 0x string on every EVM chain. So pasting your usual MetaMask address as the payout is fine. The Tether will land there, but on BNB Smart Chain, not on Ethereum.
That is where the panic starts. Someone opens the wallet on the Ethereum network, sees no USDT, and assumes the swap failed. Switch the network picker to BNB Smart Chain and the balance appears. If the chain is missing in your wallet, add it first, then look again.
Hardware wallets behave the same way. A Ledger address used through MetaMask receives BEP20 tokens without any change, as long as you view it on the right chain. Trust Wallet shows both chains side by side, which makes the split easier to see.
The deposit must be ETH on Ethereum itself
The deposit side of this pair is native ETH on Ethereum mainnet, the coin that pays gas on that chain. It confirms in about 2 to 5 minutes and can be followed on Etherscan with your transaction hash.
Not every token called ETH is that coin. BNB Smart Chain carries a bridged ETH token, and layer-2 networks such as Arbitrum or Base have their own ETH balances. They all sit at 0x addresses, so a wallet will happily let you send them to the deposit address. None of them is what this pair expects, and a deposit on the wrong chain cannot be picked up by the swap.
Before you press Send, check two things in the wallet: the network reads Ethereum (or Ethereum Mainnet), and the asset is ETH, not a token contract. Also leave some ETH behind for the network fee, because Ethereum charges gas on top of the amount you send.

All three come from the same ETH deposit. The choice is about where the Tether will be spent next. ERC20 keeps it on Ethereum, where gas is usually higher than on BNB Smart Chain. TRC20 needs a different address type altogether. BEP20 suits wallets, apps and payment requests that already live on BNB Smart Chain. If you want Ethereum Tether instead, open ETH на USDT ERC20; for Tron, use ETH на USDT TRC20.
Plan for BNB before the Tether arrives
USDT BEP20 is a token. Every transfer of it on BNB Smart Chain costs gas, and that gas is paid in BNB, never in USDT and never in ETH. A fresh 0x address that only holds the new Tether can receive it, but it cannot send it anywhere.
Your leftover ETH does not help here. It lives on Ethereum and pays fees only there, even though the address is the same string. People often discover this the first time they try to forward the Tether.
Two simple fixes exist. If you already hold BNB on that address, nothing else is needed. If not, a small separate swap to BNB on BNB Smart Chain sorts it out: ETH в BNB pays to the same 0x address. Do it before you need to move the Tether, not in a rush afterwards. Once BNB sits next to the USDT, Trust Wallet, MetaMask or Rabby can send it on.
Rate, fees and what the box shows

The rate is floating. It follows the ETH price until your deposit confirms on Ethereum, so the final figure can move a little either way from the first quote if ETH moves during those minutes.
