ATOM to USDT (TRC20): Swap Cosmos ATOM to Tether on Tron, No KYC

A large share of ATOM sits delegated to validators, earning staking rewards. Delegated ATOM cannot be sent. Before you can swap it, you undelegate it in Keplr, Trust Wallet or Vultisig, and Cosmos Hub then holds it through an unbonding period of 21 days. During that time it earns nothing and cannot move.

So check the wallet's available balance, not the total. Only liquid ATOM can go to the deposit address. If your plan depends on a dollar amount on a certain date, start the unbonding early or swap only the part that is already free.

Staking rewards are a separate point. Claimed rewards become liquid ATOM straight away, and you can swap those without waiting. Many holders do exactly that: keep the stake running and turn the rewards into Tether from time to time.

An address with staked TRX gets energy from that stake; an address without it burns TRX to pay. A T-address holding only the new Tether has neither, so the Tether stays put until you add TRX.

ATOM's price moves with the rest of the market, sometimes sharply. Holders who want to step out of that for a while move part of it into Tether, which tracks the US dollar. Others take staking rewards off the table on a schedule, or need dollars on Tron to settle a payment with someone who only accepts TRC20.
