DOT to IMX: Swap Polkadot for Immutable X on Ethereum, No KYC

IMX is the token of the Immutable ecosystem, which focuses on Web3 games and the marketplaces around them. People who hold DOT from staking or an earlier position swap into IMX when a game, a marketplace or a community they are joining runs on Immutable and asks for its token.

The two assets come from very different worlds. Polkadot is a Substrate-based network with its own account format, and DOT pays its own fees. IMX, on this pair, is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum mainnet, held at a 0x address and moved with ETH as gas. The swap crosses that gap in one step, with no bridge for you to run.

Only transferable DOT can leave the wallet. Anything bonded for staking or placed in a nomination pool shows in your total but stays locked until unbonding completes. Plan around that wait if your DOT is currently staked.

IMX needs an Ethereum address: 0x plus 40 hexadecimal characters, from MetaMask, Rabby or a Ledger. Talisman and SubWallet can hold an Ethereum account beside your Polkadot one, which is handy here. Make sure you copy the 0x account for the payout, not the address starting with 1, which cannot receive IMX.

Ethereum adds a block about every 12 seconds, and the payout confirms in a few minutes. Etherscan shows it under the token transfers of your address even before your wallet displays the IMX.

The fee row is the one to remember after the swap. On Polkadot you only ever needed DOT. On Ethereum the token you receive and the coin that moves it are two separate assets, so an IMX balance with no ETH beside it is stuck until you add some.
