From a dollar stablecoin to a gas coin
PayPal USD is a dollar stablecoin issued by Paxos for PayPal. This pair takes the ERC-20 version on Ethereum and pays BNB, the native coin of BNB Smart Chain. BNB is what every transaction on that chain is paid with, so a wallet that holds none cannot do anything there.
The most common reason for this swap is exactly that: funding a BNB Smart Chain wallet from a dollar balance in one step, so you can start using apps on that chain. Others are simply moving out of a stablecoin into a coin they want to hold.
Keep the trade-off in mind. PYUSD aims to stay at one dollar, while BNB's price moves with the market, so the dollar value of what you hold will change after the swap. Like other centrally issued stablecoins, PYUSD can be frozen at an address by its issuer; that is a property of the token itself.
Move the PYUSD to your own wallet first
PayPal and Venmo let users send PYUSD to an outside Ethereum address, but the safest way to run this swap is in two steps. First send the PYUSD from PayPal to a wallet you control, such as MetaMask, Rabby or a Ledger. Then send the deposit from that wallet.

The first row is the one that catches people. PYUSD is a token, so its transfer is paid for in ETH, not in PYUSD. Once the BNB has arrived, it covers its own fees on BNB Smart Chain, so the new balance needs no second coin beside it. Any PYUSD you keep on Ethereum, on the other hand, still needs ETH next to it whenever you want to move it.
Your BNB address: 0x, not bnb1
BNB is paid on BNB Smart Chain to an address that starts with 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters, the same format as Ethereum. In MetaMask, Trust Wallet or Rabby, the address that holds your PYUSD on Ethereum is also your address on BNB Smart Chain, so you can paste it as the payout address.
Older guides and exchanges sometimes show an address that starts with bnb1. That format belonged to the BNB Beacon Chain, which has been retired. It cannot receive this payout; only a 0x address on BNB Smart Chain works.
When the payout arrives, switch your wallet's network to BNB Smart Chain to see it; with Ethereum selected the BNB will not show. You can also open the address on BscScan. The payout itself is usually final on BNB Smart Chain within a minute.
