BRETT to AVAX: Exchange Brett on Base for X-Chain Avalanche, No KYC
To swap BRETT to AVAX, paste your Avalanche X-Chain address starting with X-avax1 and the Base address you send from, then transfer BRETT on Base to the one-time deposit address with a little ETH on Base left for gas. The AVAX is paid on Avalanche's X-Chain to your own wallet, with no account and no KYC.

A Base meme token in, X-Chain AVAX out
BRETT is a meme token that lives on Base, an Ethereum layer 2. It is named after Brett, the blue character from Matt Furie's Boy's Club comic. Like every Base token it sits at a 0x address and moves with gas paid in ETH on Base.
AVAX on this pair is paid on the X-Chain, the part of Avalanche built for plain transfers of the native coin. It is not the C-Chain, where MetaMask and most Avalanche apps run. The X-Chain uses its own address format, so the wallet that holds your BRETT cannot receive this payout.
The swap converts one into the other in a single step. No bridge contract touches your BRETT and no wrapped token is minted on Avalanche. The usual reason for this direction is plain: a holder wants to step out of a Base meme coin and hold Avalanche's own coin in a wallet they control.
Gas for the BRETT transfer is ETH on Base
Sending BRETT costs a small amount of ETH, and it has to be ETH on Base, not ETH on Ethereum mainnet. The two share the same 0x address in MetaMask or Rabby, so a wallet can show an ETH balance that sits on the wrong network. Switch the wallet to Base and check the ETH figure there before you start.
If you have no ETH on Base, move a little there first; without it the BRETT transfer cannot be signed. Also confirm that the token in your wallet is the real BRETT by opening it on BaseScan. Copycat tokens with the same name exist on Base and would not be credited.
Expect the deposit to confirm on Base in roughly a minute. Enter the same 0x address you send from as the sender address on the form; it is where a refund would go. A deposit made straight from an exchange balance has no sender address of your own and is best avoided.
Getting an X-avax1 address from Core
The payout field accepts only an X-Chain address, which starts with X-avax1. Core is the wallet the site lists for it. Open Core, switch to the X/P-Chain view of your account and copy the address shown there.
Core sometimes displays that address as avax1 followed by the rest of the string. In that case type X- in front of it before you paste, so the field reads X-avax1. Without the prefix the address is rejected.
A 0x address will not work on this pair, whether it comes from MetaMask, Rabby or the C-Chain view of Core. If a 0x address is what you want, pick AVAX C-Chain as the receive coin in the exchange box instead; BRETT to AVAX C-Chain is open as a separate option.
A brand-new X-Chain address is fine. It needs no AVAX in it before the payout arrives.
BRETT and AVAX side by side
| BRETT (you send) | AVAX (you receive) | |
|---|---|---|
| Réseau | Base (Ethereum layer 2) | Avalanche X-Chain |
| Adresse | 0x plus 40 caractères hexadécimaux | Starts with X-avax1 |
| Pièce de gaz | ETH sur la base | AVAX |
| Confirmation | Environ une minute | Quelques secondes |
| Portefeuilles | MetaMask, Rabby | Core (X-Chain address) |
| Explorer | BaseScan | Avascan |
Nothing in the two columns lines up, and that is the point to take away. You need one wallet set to Base for sending and a second view in Core for receiving. Keep both open while you fill in the form, and paste each address from its own app rather than from memory or an old note.
The confirmation row also explains where any waiting happens. The Base side takes about a minute, while Avalanche settles almost at once, so a slow swap nearly always points back to the deposit: gas, network or a token that is not the real BRETT.
After the AVAX lands
The X-Chain finalises the payout within a few seconds of it being sent. Avascan shows it at your X-avax1 address, and Core lists the new balance in its X/P-Chain view.
X-Chain AVAX is good for holding and for plain transfers. Most Avalanche apps run on the C-Chain, though, so if you want to use the coins there, Core's cross-chain transfer can move AVAX from the X-Chain to the C-Chain later. That move is done inside Core and has nothing to do with the swap.
The reverse page, AVAX à BRETT, works the other way and pays BRETT to a Base address. Its own steps differ, since it starts from an X-Chain deposit and ends at a 0x address on Base.
Nothing ties the AVAX back to a profile, because none was made: the payout simply arrives at an address that only your Core recovery phrase controls.
Rate, refunds and support
The rate comes from aggregated liquidity from leading crypto markets. The exchange box shows how much AVAX you get after fees, and the figure floats with the market until the BRETT deposit is confirmed on Base. Limits for the pair are shown in the same box.
With Base confirming in about a minute and the X-Chain in seconds, most swaps finish within minutes once the deposit confirms. A status page tied to your swap ID shows each step.
If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the sender address you entered. On this pair, that is BRETT back to your 0x address on Base. Questions go to support@ghostswap.io; include the swap ID and the Base transaction hash.
No account, no email and no ID are part of the process. The form needs two addresses and nothing else about you.
Erreurs courantes
- Holding ETH on Ethereum mainnet but none on Base, so the BRETT transfer cannot pay its gas.
- Pasting a 0x address from MetaMask or the C-Chain view of Core into the X-Chain payout field.
- Copying the Core address as avax1 without adding the X- prefix, which makes it fail validation.
- Sending a look-alike token called BRETT instead of the real one; check it on BaseScan first.
- Sending from an exchange balance, which leaves no Base address of your own for a refund.
