BCH to XRP: Swap Bitcoin Cash to XRP Without KYC

Bitcoin Cash is a proof-of-work chain that split from Bitcoin in 2017 and kept its roughly 10-minute block interval. Your deposit has to wait for a block, so the site's estimate for the BCH side is about 10 to 20 minutes. That wait is the longest part of this pair.

The XRP Ledger works in a completely different way. There is no mining; validators agree on a new ledger version every few seconds, and a payment is final once it is in one. When the BCH has confirmed, most swaps finish within minutes, and the XRP payout itself settles in a few seconds.

So if the status page sits on the deposit step for a while, that is normal for Bitcoin Cash. The rate keeps floating with the market until that confirmation arrives, which is why the XRP amount on the status page can differ slightly from the first quote. Once the deposit confirms, the remaining steps move quickly.

Bitcoin Cash uses two address styles. The modern CashAddr format starts with bitcoincash:q or just q. The older legacy format starts with 1, exactly like a Bitcoin address, and that resemblance causes real losses: BTC sent to a BCH deposit address, or BCH sent from a Bitcoin-only app that happened to show a matching balance.

Send from a wallet built for Bitcoin Cash, such as Electron Cash or Cashonize, and enter that wallet's own CashAddr as the sender address. It is the address used for a refund, so it should be one you control and can open again later.

The BCH network fee is paid by your wallet on top of the amount. Bitcoin Cash blocks are rarely full, so the default fee your wallet suggests is normally enough to make the next block. You can look up the deposit on Blockstuhl by pasting the transaction ID from your wallet.

XRP is paid to an account on the XRP Ledger, and every account address starts with r. Copy it from the receive screen of Xaman or from your Ledger app, paste it whole and check the first and last characters.

A brand-new r address does not exist on the ledger until it receives its first XRP. That first payment has to be larger than the ledger's base reserve to activate the account, and the reserve then stays locked in it for as long as the account exists. If you are setting up a fresh wallet for this swap, swap enough BCH that the XRP payout comfortably clears that reserve.

After activation, the account behaves like any other: the balance shows in Xaman or Ledger Live, and XRPSCAN lists the incoming payment with its ledger index. Fees on the XRP Ledger are paid in very small amounts of XRP, so the payout can be moved on without holding any other coin.

Exchanges receive XRP for many customers at one shared r address and use the Destination Tag, a number, to know which customer a payment belongs to. Without the tag, an exchange may not credit the XRP to you at all, and recovering it means a support case with them. A personal wallet has the r address to itself, so no tag is involved.

Copy the tag from the same exchange screen as the address and type it into the Destination Tag field of the exchange box. Bitcoin Cash has no tag or memo, so the BCH deposit needs nothing beyond the deposit address the box gives you.

The usual reason is practical: a person, shop or service you deal with takes XRP and not BCH. Others hold both coins and want to rebalance without opening an account anywhere. Some simply prefer a ledger where a payment is final in seconds and the fee is a small fraction of an XRP.

If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the sender address you entered. For this pair that means BCH back to the CashAddr you typed in, so a wallet you control matters more than anything else on the form.

Sending straight from an exchange withdrawal is a weak choice here. The BCH would leave from the exchange's shared wallet, and a refund to that address may never reach your account. Withdraw to Electron Cash or Cashonize first and send the deposit from there.

Each swap has a status page under its swap ID, showing the deposit, the exchange step and the payout.
